Any art lover who is planning to go to Florence would not dream of missing a visit to
the Uffizi, one of the world's premier museums. But almost any month of the year, that mission entails standing
in line outside for up to four hours before even being admitted to the galleries. Bad weather or severe heat
could discourage even the most determined traveler. Advance reservations are an absolute must to avoid this
waste of your precious holiday time.
Open
Tuesday - Sunday, 8:15am-6:50pm
Closed
Mondays, December 25, January 1 and May 1
If you are planning to visit the Accademia also, it is about 20 minutes' walk from the Uffizi. However, if at all possible, we recommend you visit the museums on two different days to avoid "museum overload"! Also if you are arriving in Florence the same day as your visit please account for the fact that your plane/train/bus may be late.
Tickets also include the mandatory extra admission charge for special exhibitions such as Caravaggio and Caravagesque Painters in Florence, May 22-October 10, 2010 (you do not have to purchase anything else).
Tickets cost 22.00 Euro each, with the following exceptions:
Because the museum is so vast and rich, we recommend you consider a private guided tour. This is a wonderful way to maximize the time you spend in these sometimes overwhelming artistic treasure troves. Our guides are affable Florentines who speak excellent English, French, German or Spanish and specialize in bringing the works of art to life for young and old alike.
