Palace Grand Hotel Varese

If you are arriving/leaving at Malpensa, this is the closest nice hotel you are going to find for your layover. But, having said that, let us add that there are many other reasons to spend a day or two here. Lake Maggiore and Switzerland are less than half an hour's drive away, the area is filled with secret designer outlet stores that the concierges can tell you about, and lastly, the little city of Varese itself has a charming historical area crammed with great shops and restaurants. You might want to consider actually allowing yourselves a couple of days of relaxation at the beginning or end of your trip, or on the way from Venice to the Ligurian coast. Oh and yes, you can also whisk into Milan to see the Duomo and Last Supper, too!

Location:In Varese, nicknamed "The City of Gardens." The hotel occupies one of the most famous gardens, actually a vast park that encompasses an entire hill and affords stunning views of the lake and the Alps. Only a few miles from the autostrada, it is very easy to find, about a 5-minute drive from the historical center of the city. It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Malpensa Airport, allowing for a stop to gas up the rental car along the way. Click here to see map.
