Milan Ecological Hotel

Tucked behind its own parking lot on one of the historic streets that leads out of the old city center through a monumental gateway, this small establishment is proud to have been Milan’s first ecological hotel. When it was recently renovated, only non-toxic building and refinishing materials were used. Mattresses, pillows and toiletries are also natural; while all cleaning products and paper are completely biodegradable. All the air is ionized, only purified water is used to prepare beverages, and the buffet breakfast features a good selection of organic products alongside the traditional Italian goodies. When you are choosing a great budget hotel in the center of a major metropolis, it’s nice to know that your hosts don’t just consider this a job – and you can be sure their care and consideration extends to their guests as well!

Location: On Largo Carrobbio, about 20 minutes’ walk from the Duomo and Santa Maria delle Grazie (The Last Supper). Click here to see a map.

Public transportation: Because of the very strict traffic regulations, we do not suggest you drive to the hotel; but if you do, you can park on the lot (first-come-first-served) for 15 Euro/night, or you can park in a nearby garage for the same price. An easier idea is to take the #2 Tram, which stops in front of the hotel.

Rooms: 52, on eight floors. Three floors were renovated in 2005, and we always try to place our guests there. All the rooms have parquet floors. Single rooms are small and have a true single bed. Triple rooms have three single beds or a queen bed and a single bed or single sofa bed. There are a few sets of connecting double rooms. This hotel is all non-smoking.

Features: Air conditioning, direct-dial telephone with modem, flat-screen satellite TV, well-stocked mini-bar, safe big enough for a laptop, luggage rack, most rooms have a full-length mirror and desk; all have a private bathroom with bathtub and/or stall shower, TV speaker, telephone and hair dryer.

Facilities: Elevator, free Internet access in the lobby, free bicycles (first-come-first-served), continental breakfast, afternoon/evening cocktail bar, on-site or nearby parking for approx. 15 Euro/day.
