Hotel 47

Don’t be fooled by this hotel’s boring name: it is one of the brightest new additions to Rome’s hospitality industry. If you like sleek, modern accommodations nestled into a fabulous ancient setting, this is a great choice for you. The hotel is a symphony of blond and honey-toned accents, with big picture windows, classy marble or tile floors and a delightful inner courtyard that is enclosed in winter. Rooms are large and offer every amenity imaginable – but you may want to spend most of your waking hours at the elegant rooftop terrace, where you are sure to take many souvenir photographs of a smiling you against the backdrop of the Roman ruins.

Location: On Via Petroselli, one block from the river, three blocks from the Roman Forum and the synagogue, 10 minutes' stroll from Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, 20 minutes from the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and St. Peter's. Click here to see a map.

Public transportation: Many buses stop two blocks away on Via Petroselli, or a 5-minute walk away at Piazza Venezia.

Rooms: 61 on five floors, including standard and deluxe doubles and triples, as well as a few knock-out Junior suites. All rooms are ultra-modern with parquet floors, spacious blonde wood closets, desk and nightstands. Every room has two twin beds or one king-size bed, a full-length mirror and a private bathroom lined with marble. Deluxe rooms are bigger and have a bathtub, plus a terrace or two large corner windows. All Junior suites have a private terrace. Some rooms overlook the courtyard or a quiet alley. All rooms on the fifth floor have terraces with wonderful views (these are standard, deluxe or Junior suite and must be requested at time of booking). Rooms for the disabled have a normal shower as well as a wheelchair-accessible one. Non-smoking rooms are available.

Features: All rooms have silent air-conditioning, bedside controls, direct-dial telephone, soundproof windows, radio, satellite TV, pay-TV, safe, TV-Internet, mini-bar and luggage rack. Deluxe rooms and Junior suites offer free Internet use. Junior suites have plasma TV in the living room and bedroom, as well as a DVD player (European standard only). Bathrooms have a large shower with rainforest or double shower heads, or a bathtub with wall shower, plus good courtesy sets, magnifying mirror, heated towel rack, and hair dryer. Deluxe rooms and Junior suites also have robes, slippers, scale and trouser press.

Facilities: Elevator; Internet point and Wi-Fi in the lobby; gym; hot and cold breakfast buffet served in the inner courtyard. Restaurant in the courtyard; light meals and cocktails are also served on the rooftop terrace.
