In Italy's Lodgings in |
![]() |
| Welcome to In Italy Online! No one knows Italy like we do! We were the Internet's first site about Italy, and with over 4000 pages of information about where to go and what to see, we're also the biggest. Our Italy experts will help you plot the best itinerary, find the lodgings best suited to you, and make sure you get the room you want. Unlike big automated websites, we are human beings and we know the hosts at every single property on our site. We have been friends with most of them for years, and this means that In Italy Online's guests are always VIPs. We will always do our best to get the exact room you want. You will never be downgraded to the worst room in the house (which is pretty standard when you book through those impersonal sites). You will never be sent to a "similar" hotel on the other side of town. And we provide local reps in case you need back-up assistance. When browsing our site, remember that we human beings are here to assist you! Several hundred pages of comments from happy In Italy Online guests attest to this: click here to read just a few of them. And if you're new to our site, please take a few moments to learn how to book with us and why to book with us. |

Venice
is the capital of this glorious region, which may have even an even vaster choice of beautiful cities and
hilltowns than Tuscany. Once you are done cruising up and down the Grand Canal, once you have seen St. Mark’s
Basilica (among the most memorable churches in the entire world), once you have paid a king’s ransom
to sip a Coke and watch the pigeons in St. Mark’s Square, take a train or rent a car to see some of
these myriad treasures. First there is Verona, where you can visit Romeo’s home and Juliet’s balcony,
as well as a spectacular Roman amphitheatre where operas are performed in the summertime. There are at least
a dozen minor cities such as Padua, site of St. Anthony’s massive shrine, whose fresco cycle by Giotto
marked a vital turning point in the history of Western art; glorious Vicenza, showplace of Andrea Palladio’s
groundbreaking architectural masterpieces; and lovely little Treviso and Bassano del Grappa, cuisine capitals
known respectively for radicchio and white asparagus. Then there are the countless smaller towns like Soave,
with its fairy-tale castle and crenellated wall. As if all this were not enough, you have some of the most
prized vineyards in Europe; vast, bright-blue Lake Garda with its alpine background; miles and miles of sandy
beaches south of Venice; and an amusement park that will delight any homesick youthful traveler.
